Frequently Asked Questions…

What time is check in?

The cottage will be ready for you by 2.30pm. There is no reception desk. You will receive a security code via email for the cottage door prior to your arrival.

What time is check out?

You must leave the cottage by 10.30am to allow us time to prepare for the next guests.

Can I arrive any earlier or leave later?

Generally we are not able to provide late check-outs or early check-ins due to our high occupancy.

Do you allow pets?

Depends what they are. We have a total ban on elephants and monkeys, or any animals that can be destructive. This includes some dogs. If you have a dog that wrecks everything in sight or sheds hair everywhere we’d prefer they didn’t come. Even though the yard is fully fenced our garden isn’t destruction proof either so just leaving them outside isn’t an option. If you are a dog owner with a house trained, well behaved pet with your own bedding you are welcome. We will let you decide if your loved pet would be welcome. You need to ask us prior to your arrival if they can come. We will ask for your credit card details and reserve the right to charge extra for extra cleaning or repairs if necessary.

Can children stay at the cottage?

Children are welcome at the cottage. There is no specific play equipment in the rear garden but it is fully fenced. There is a great playground at the Greenock Recreation Park across the road. Children with a bed-wetting problem must provide their own waterproof sheet. Guests will be charged extra cleaning, and maybe even for a new mattress, if a child wets the bed without this.

Is there a minimum number of nights I need to stay?

We have a 2 night minimum stay at all times, a 3 night minimum stay on Long Weekends and 4 night minimum stay over Easter.

Is there WiFi internet access in the cottage?

Yes, free WiFi internet access is available. It generally works with no trouble, but connection is not guaranteed. We cannot help you with problems with connection to your device and accept no responsibility for any virus/computer worms propagated whilst connected.

Is firewood provided for the wood fire?

Firewood is provided from 1 May to 31 October. We provide enough wood, including kindling, for 2 or 3 fires. Additional wood can be purchased at local service stations or hardware stores. We do not allow use of the wood fire outside of these dates. The two air-conditioners work very well in heating the cottage, and there are electric blankets and warm quilts on the beds.

What do I get for breakfast? What cooking facilities are there?

We provide locally sourced breakfast provisions sufficient for at least your first mornings breakfast. Items include… bacon, eggs, tomatoes, milk, muesli and juice along with bread, a selection of spreads, tea and coffee. There is a fully equipped kitchen with full sized fridge and cooking options include stove top, microwave, electric fry-pan and toaster. Outside is a gas barbecue next to the patio seating. Alternatively why not savour one of the outstanding Barossa restaurants or just stroll across the road to the Tavern for a schnitzel!

What do I need to bring with me?

Just your personal items. All linen and towels are supplied as well as some introductory toiletries. Generous breakfast provisions are provided to at least get you through the first morning. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with handy cooking essentials such as salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, paper towel etc.

Is there a telephone in the cottage?

Despite once being the telegraph station for the region there is no land-line telephone in the cottage now. We recommend you bring your mobile/cell phone. There is a public telephone box outside the Greenock Post Office.

What happens if I need to cancel my booking?

Please view our Booking Terms & Cancellation Policy above on this page for our full cancellation policy, terms and conditions. We strongly advise you to take out travel insurance to provide protection against unforeseen events.

Can I change the dates of my booking?

Provided you give us at least 14 days notice you can change the dates of your booking, subject to availability. There is no charge for the change, however there may be tariff adjustment for the new dates. The changed booking must be for the same number or more nights. Fewer nights or less than 14 days notice will be treated as a cancellation.

Are you close to wineries?

We are within walking distance of award winning Murray Street Vineyards, where you can easily spend a lazy afternoon of wine tasting whilst enjoying the views and savouring one of their lunch platters. Across the road is Kalleske Wines.  Dell’Uva Wines,  Schluter Wines, Ballycroft and Alkina are also just a short walk away.
